A MUM-of-two who was found dead shortly before Christmas had drowned, a post-mortem has revealed.
Marissa Aldrich, 29, from St Neots, was discovered on a patch of grassland in the Cambridgeshire town at about 2.30am on Saturday, December 22.
She was pronounced dead at about 4.30am that day.
Robert McWhir, 25, of St Neots, has been charged with her murder, reports Cambridgeshire Live.
Police have confirmed the mother of two Marissa had been pronounced dead at 4.30am on Saturday.
Locals in the area around the scene in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, have since spoken of their shock at the tragedy.
A resident said: "I heard a man at about 2am. He was making like a 'rah' noise. Then a woman came down the road on her own and came back with another woman who was crying
"The man came running back round and was shouting 'She's dead under the bridge'."
Friends and family paid tribute to Marissa on Facebook.
Writing on Facebook, Abby Herschell said: "Rest in peace little cuz Marissa Aldrich."
Melissa Howard said: "I can't believe what I am hearing.
"Someone tell me it's all wrong, we will have memories that within never go away.
"Taken to [sic] young r.i.p babes love u Marissa Aldrich."

Cambridge Police confirmed: "A 25-year-old man from St Neots has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in St Neots on Saturday.
